They are Appalachian fairies: humble, hardworking caretakers of God's creation who dwell among the hills, gardens, and hollers of Eastern Kentucky.
Rooted in local history.
In the 1930s, WPA collectors recorded these folktales. Inspired by this preserved folklore, the Business Cultivation Foundation brought the stories back to life in our community garden, creating Fairyville as a place where history and imagination meet.
